Be Careful during DST transformation

As the Government of Pakistan has announced advancing one hour in order to adopt DST from June 1 2008, all telecom users are advised to closely eye new timings and their cellular call plans.

It is feared that cellular companies and PTCL might not be able to synchronize their billing servers and other systems’ timings accordingly, due to some technical issues that may arise.

Furthermore, as the timings will advance by one hour, so you are safely one hour ahead, even if the synchronization is not carried out. Still, be care full and make sure that you are on safer side before making any long call.

It maybe recalled that previously DST was adopted on April 1st, 2002, however then no misdeed was reported. But one can recall there were flat plans and no peak/off peak hours then.

Hopefully nothing will go wrong and the transformation will go smoothly.

PTCL Directory Assistance Number Changes

Posted by: Aamir Attaa on May 21, 2008 at 4:29 PM

Through Advertisements, PTCL has accounted that its Directory Assistance Number, which was previously 17, has been changed to 1217.

Furthermore, if you doubt that your information associated with your phone is outdated or not correct, then call 0800-01217 and get your information updated, so that your friend n family get the correct information about you….

The bad news is that now calls to 1217 (previously 17) will be charged at local call rate, that is Rs. 2.01 per 2 minutes; so don’t hold too long if busy PTCL operators do not responed…!
