By the way, i didn’t find any search button on Ufone’s official website. (let me know if there is, but in case they dont have it, then) either they just forgot to add search feature or they think websites are mad who invest thousands of dollars for search capabilities.
Telenor’s homepage is also missing Search Bar, which i guess should be embedded somewhere in its layout.
Ufone need to keep this thing in its mind that plenty of its subscribers are not good at navigating websites, hence in such a scenario, search feature is a must have element.

Ufone has struck its competitors, yet again, by offering Blackberry services for its prepaid customers as well. I am not sure if this move is going to make big difference in Ufone’s balance sheets or subscribers’ stats… but this launch of Blackberry for prepaid customers is going to greatly hike Ufone as a brand.
Ufone says that its prepaid customers can get BlackBerry from any Ufone customer services centre and they can enjoy unparalleled control over business and personal life by allowing them to check emails and attachments, set up meetings, conference calling, instant messaging and even updating Facebook picture!
Ufone Blackberry services are offered for unlocked sets, meaning that you can bring along any Blackberry compatible handset, or you can buy it from Ufone service center and get the service activated, instantly..!
Charges:
Ufone’s prepaid blackberry is not inexpensive, assuming that prepaid users don’t spend this much on VAS. Still those addicts, who can’t think of lives without emails are going to click the option straight away… Pricing details are as following
Rs.900 + (Rs. 189 as tax) per month
For Blackberry Handset Prices: Click Here
Total: Rs. 1089 per month (Including Tax - This includes Unlimited GPRS Download + Upload)
- Prepaid BlackBerry services will be available on Uwon, prepay life and panch ka pandara.
- Monthly fee will be deducted in advance and Ufone customer’s can enjoy Blackberry (BIS) service for next thirty days.
- These thirty days will be on rolling basis and will renew from the date he renews his subscription.
- In-case a users runs out of credit on the date of recurring, his account will become suspended and it will remain in suspended state for next thirty days. (So you need to keep Rs. 1089 in your prepaid balance on renewal data)
- After thirty days of suspension, Ufone customer’s account will completely be deactivated from BIS services.

While virtually all Pakistanis fast in Ramadan and feel more pious, hence they are easily found attracted towards Ramadan related services from cellular companies. Almost all cellular companies in Pakistan had come up with services relating to Ramadan that included Namaz Alerts, Special Ring Tunes, caller tunes, Quran Majeed download and so on.
I was browsing though websites of all cellular companies and found that Zong and Telenor did pretty much home work for Ramadan, while Warid also has a section for Ramadan Service
On other hands, Ufone kept beating on their Special Ramadan Package but nothing else… while I was unable to find any Ramadan Services’ Section for Mobilink Customers.
In this post, I am not going to discuss Mobilink for not offering any Ramadan Services for their 32 million customers (it can be part of their policies or preferences); instead I would like to point out Warid Telecom, as they announced Ramadan services on 14th day of Ramadan, little late (in fact too late…). Were they not prepared? Or if they were well prepared than what got them late?
As an ending note, its better late than never, but still Warid’s product managers need to more focous on timely delivery of services.

Ever you wanted to know calling details for your mobile number? You may require this for several reasons, such as:
- You feel like that your mobile phone has been misused by someone around you, and you want to figure out who it was who kept calling from your phone without informing you!
- You have given a mobile number to your kid, and you want to keep an eye on his/her activities
- Even if there is no reason, you own this number, so you deserve a right to know what has been happening around with your phone.
Well, for those who are postpaid subscribers, they get their outgoing detail almost every month in form of their monthly bills. But for Prepaid users, getting call details is almost impossible for a normal person.
Other than Ufone and Zong, no one offers you this service. Meaning that, if you have any mobile connection, other than Ufone, then just forget about getting your call details, because no one offers this service.

Banking transactions made over internet (known as E-Banking) are rapidly getting very common amongst businesses entities and masses in Pakistan. This was reflected in a recent report prepared by State Bank of Pakistan, which read that E-Banking has grown as high as 32 percent growth last year (2008).
This report that got published in print media today, said that, a total of 124.6 million e-banking transactions were recorded valuing Rs 13.9 trillion during the last fiscal year (2008), showing a growth of 25.4 percent in numbers and 32.3 percent in amount when compared with the fiscal year 2007.
This significant growth in e-banking is due to massive use of internet, especially high speed internet in Pakistan. Along with come the factors such as increasing number of free launce workers in the country who work for overseas companies tend to use E-Banking instead of paper banking. Furthermore, those who are living abroad are also increasingly interacting with their bank accounts back in Pakistan from internet.
We also see that E-Banking standards maintained by Pakistan banks are not bad; though some may have bad experiences, but largely, systems are stable and reliable. This reliability and benefits, such as, time saving with E-Banking are fetching more users by each passing day.
With this rise in E-Banking usage, there are certain restrictions too, such as daily and monthly transaction limits are insufficient; which actually hinders business entities and individuals to make E-Banking as their primary banking mode. Bankers say that this low limit is to increase security and allowing least chances for fraudulent activities, but on other hands, consumers require more luxury though with safety.
On the same note, I would like to see e-commerce activities in Pakistan. We see that E-Banking is already given good feedback, along with total number of credit and debit card holders reach 6.7 million, there is a dire need of E-Commerce infrastructure layout in the country, and that too in quick time.
More details on this report titled ‘Retail Payment Systems of Pakistan (paper-based and ebanking), are covered in following news item taken from Dawn’s edition of September 14, 2008.

Many of us are crazy to have Golden or Platinum mobile number; these easy to remember phone numbers are also marked as status symbol amongst the masses. Or you may want to have same number for your spouse but with different code…! But tell you something, after reading this post, it is not going to be a tough job for you to get Ufone Golden Number and that too with 0333 code.
Okay, the process is very simple… check out Ufone franchises in your area, because those guys are the right contacts to get such Golden Numbers. Not all franchises may help you in getting Ufone Golden Numbers, but specific ones may come up with good solution. For example, in Rawalpindi, Ufone’s franchise located at Kalma Chowk, Bakra Mandi offer you Ufone’s Golden Numbers.
Now, if you are thinking that you gonna get these numbers in Rs. 150, then you are absolutely wrong…! Obviously you need to pay more for such Cathy numbers. Infact Ufone has categorized these numbers in 3 ways, 1- Silver 2 – Golden 3 – Platinum
Prices are as following
- Ufone Silver Number = Rs. 1000
- Ufone Golden Number = Rs. 2500
- Ufone Platinum Number = Rs. 7500
How numbers are categorized,
There is no hard and fast rule, but apparently, if you get a number with triple digit in it then is going to be a Silver Number,
Such as 0333-5433355 is possibly a silver number
0333-5499994 has a tetra digit; hence it is a Golden number and will cost you Rs. 2500.
0333-5988888 is a platinum number, as it has penta digit, and such a number is going to cost you Rs. 7500
Note: as I mentioned, there is no hard and fast rule for the prices, so you can expect 033354334455 as a Golden Number too… Also note that I have randomly mentioned these numbers, so please take these numbers just as examples. Also you may expect numbers with 0333 code more expensive than of a number with 0332 or 0331 code.
It is suggested to find a reference at these franchises, as a good friend can greatly help you find a very good number. Actually what they do to get you such a Golden Number is that they search numbers in Online Records available to them. For example, they will put 0333-5423333 into system and will see if this number is registered to anyone or not. If not, then they will offer you this number for hefty price.
Also note that these numbers are offered in only postpaid packages. Means if you will have to pay Rs. 1000 (atleast) for security deposit.
For an example, total Price for a Golden Number would become
Golden Number Price: Rs. 2000
Security Deposit: Rs. 1000 (This security deposit depends on package, but this is lowest limit)
Activation Tax: Rs. 200
Total Price: Rs. 3,700
So, enjoy, and let me know if you get any success with this story : - )
