I cannot forget that day in my life, when my brother bought me 486 computer for Rs. 45,000/- and soon I started to explore windows 3.1 & Windows 95 on this expensive machine. Today after almost 10 years, things have changed a lot, and so are the prices for computers. But unfortunately, we, as a nation are still immature in terms of using computers and in terms of getting benefited of its advantages.
Today, despite 15 percent general sales tax on computers, one can buy a reasonable computer for just 5 to 7 thousand Rupees. Pakistan observed highest growth rate, globally, for computer usage and penetration in recent years, but unfortunately, today in our society masses don’t use computer technology as they should have used it. Like most of the computers bought in rural or in urban areas to some extent are mainly used for playing Movie and games, to chat or to surf Porn websites.
We must understand this that computers can be used very effectively, which can earn lots of money for students and old alike. What we need to do is to explore new tools and techniques to help ourselves and to bring forward productive products in market. Like I know most of the developers are “Own Feed Developers” They learnt majority of their development techniques through online tutorials, How to Do’s and CBT’s available on the internet. I myself studied most of the languages and tools from tutorials/ CBT’s available on the web. Continue Reading This Story

I am glad that my previous post about Cyber War between India and Pakistan got tremendous response, not only through fellow commenter’s, but it was escalated in main stream media, and was carried by Geo TV, Dawn TV, Express TV, Daily Jang, The News and others, but at the same time, some people took the whole story in wrong sense. I was just reporting on inside activities, however, few fellows thought that I was promoting the negative stories by publicizing them.
While I was aware of the impact that my story could make, at the same time, being a part of ProPakistani.com it was my core duty to update my readers regarding happenings in web security domain of Pakistan.
Since my previous, I had been researching on the hacking activities going on between Pakistan and India. Meanwhile, the occurrence of Mumbai incident further increased the chances of massive defacement from both sides; which could cost heavy losses to both the countries.
During all this disappointment, I got this invitation from PCA group for a group chat where all other top groups including Pakbugs Z-company, PCA and some other old school hackers were participating.
These Pakistani groups chatted for 2 hours before they allowed me to step in. As soon as I joined, ICW2 and HMG also joined this group chat, which meant that these groups are now negotiating and want to quit Cyber War. Continue Reading This Story

In 3.5 GHz spectrum, bidding for Mirpur (TR-1), one block was awarded to Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) against a bid of Rs 10 million, while the bid for second block was not concluded as no company showed interest.
Similarly, for Muzaffarabad (TR-2), PTCL gave the highest bid of Rs 4 million, followed by Wateen, which matched the price. For Northern Areas (TR-3), Wateen offered highest bid of Rs 4 million, and second block went to PTCL at the same price. Continue Reading This Story

Internet Service Providers in Pakistan are offering wide range of Broadband technologies, such as DSL, Cable, FTTH and WiMAX. Currently, DSL is the leading broadband technology in Pakistan with approx 65 percent market share, while major DSL providers in Pakistan are Micronet, LinkdotNet, Cybernet, Multinet and PTCL.
HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) is the second largest broadband technology in terms of market share. Approximately, 25 percent of total broadband subscribers in Pakistan use FHC technology. Worldcall happens to be the largest cable modem broadband provider in Pakistan through the use of FHC network in Karachi and Lahore; along with comes Wateen Telecom which is also providing broadband using FHC. Competition in DSL market is easily seen, while the core retention element is the service and support.
Use of FTTH and WiMAX has increased, though not with the same ratio as in developed countries, but emergence and benefits of services such as IPTV is pulling customers towards FTTH. There are around 2800 FTTH and 20,000 WiMAX subscribers in Pakistan. Wateen Telecom and recently launched Mobilink Infinity are two WiMAX providers in the country. However, due to first of its kind experience of WiMAX technology, service issues are being reported. Continue Reading This Story

Most of the people who use internet are well aware of “Orkut” a social networking website. But besides social networking this website is being used for immoral activities, which is a great threat to the future of our young generation. I have been using Orkut for last 4 years and spent a lot of time on this website. Amongst variety of people, I came across, some are really good and helpful and using this social network in positive manner and to help each other. But some of them in fact most of them are using this portal in a wrong way.
Today these bad activities that I have been witnessing for a long time made me to write this article. May be I’ll be able to draw net user’s attention towards this and may I could save someone’s life. But let me share my experience and research on Orkut with you.
In past four years I have gone through many experiences on Orkut. Initially I didn’t have much knowledge about this site. Somehow I got an invitation through an email sent to me by a friend of mine and I created a profile. I knew a few friends of mine who already had profiles there, so I added them and then I came to know that one can view others profile and add them as friends. Continue Reading This Story

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued a show cause notice to Telecard for not complying with the rules by providing incorrect information to authority.
Show cause notice said that Telecard did not provide any international incoming traffic details to PTA from October 2007 September 2008; while according to APC rules it is explicitly told that all telecom companies must provide Call Detail Record (DCRs) to PTA on monthly basis.
As per show cause notice, on repeated reminders from PTA, Telecard, at last, provided international incoming call record details for whole year on October 21, 2008 – out of which PTA analyzed incoming traffic of only July and August 2008. When compared between Vigilance Directorate, It was found that a total of 15,265,595 minutes were reported less to the Commercial Affair Division - PTA, in order to hide international minutes.
Notice further said that when this international incoming traffic of Telecard was compared with it’s interconnect partners, it was found that company reported 3,804,927 lesser minutes to PTA. Furthermore, Authority also figured out that Telecard was found involved in altering international incoming traffic as domestic traffic. Continue Reading This Story

I got this email from PCA (Pakistan Cyber Army, who recently hacked http://www.ongcindia.com/ - Indian Oil and Natural Gas website) about how they hacked Indian website and what exactly made them hack it. Email is pasted below
Note: I am displaying this email as it is, without any editing.
okay now everybody listen
First of all why were Indian sites defaced by us?
HMG has been playing around with Pakistani communities and websites for a long time now and on the top of that they are thinking that Pakistanis can’t do anything?
LOL dude get a life. These defacement’s were not dedicated for the fame of our group name PCA. Pakistan Cyber Army this group name was created right 5 minutes before we defaced these websites. This means we don’t have any intention to spread our names nor we need to show our skill levels. This is just a matter of our nation Pakistan.
We cant stop HMG from defacing our websites … all rite go deface some more..don’t come in forums and say we are crying and can’t do anything..we don’t have time for this **** seriously.. and yea … back off.. otherwise we really need to take out some time.. and as we said before ..smoke your doors off till u burn to ashes. (no offense )
OH the defaced websites got fixed?
All the people who think that anyone can control a website permanently if you break into it.. they are wrong.. there is no such way you can control a website completely. You can put your page for a period of time , until the owner of that website sees it and because he has the hosting control he is the only real owner no matter how deep you can go into it. So it has to get back to normal page anyways. that’s why screen shots are used
HMG RE HACKED??
LOL all the Pakistani’s should really be proud of this. First of all ..instead of bringing the site to the normal page, they are putting their messages on their own Indian websites HAHAHAHA lol anyways never mind ..
hacking a website again is not a big thing, anyone can do this if you are sure about the existence of a vulnerability in a website.
HMG hacked our oil and gas website.. that was a random act..
Our attack was planned , and dedicated to their OIL AND GAS website which makes sense plus it shows we Pakistanis can do it.
see we are white hats, don’t force us to show our black hat sides , that be really bad.
PCA
