In occupied Kashmir, the cellular company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has announced restoration of short messaging services (SMS) in Kashmir valley from Saturday (December 27), after five months following lifting of the restrictions imposed by the occupation authorities in August this year.

The ban had initially been lifted by the high court, but the Indian Supreme Court later retained the ban. People particularly young are very happy with the resumption of the service. “We can once again easily communicate with my friends and relatives, and they with us,” said college students, adding that they were forced to telephone their friends after SMS’s were banned.
